About
Welcome to the delightful world of Meng Kee 明记家乡小食, a hidden gem located in the vibrant area of Jalan Klang Lama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. This restaurant is not just a place to dine; it is a culinary experience steeped in tradition and flavor, drawing upon the heart of Chinese cuisine.
Meng Kee shines brightly as a revered establishment, recommended for its richly diverse menu and the authenticity of its dishes. Whether you're a local or a visitor, the allure of this eatery is hard to resist.
Recently, a diner shared their experience, highlighting the Stewed Pork Trotters, which was a showstopper. The dish offers tender meat stewed to perfection, infused with a savory gravy that carries a hint of Bah Kut Teh—an aromatic spice blend that brings warmth to every bite. Adding pork intestines, hog maw, and an egg elevates it further, creating a comforting dish that resonates with many of the patrons' hearts.
Another highlight is the Pipa Duck, a must-try for its crispy skin and tender meat. Drizzled with a luscious plum sauce and sprinkled with sesame, it serves as both a feast for the eyes and the palate. While some diners may find the duck slightly fatty, the flavor-rich experience remains unforgettable. For those who appreciate the art of steaming, the Steamed Fish Head with Ginger is perfection on a plate, showcasing freshness that is coupled with delicate flavors.
The menu also features the Romaine Lettuce with Fermented Beancurd, a lighter option that could benefit from a bit more intensity in flavor, perhaps more heat or depth from the fermented beancurd, to elevate it amidst the more robust dishes that surround it.
What truly sets Meng Kee apart is not just the food, but the atmosphere. The bustling energy of the restaurant, often crowded with satisfied customers, speaks volumes about its rising popularity. With a reasonable total bill of about RM115 for two rice, four dishes, and drinks, it’s clear that this restaurant provides both quality and value.
In summary, Meng Kee 明记家乡小食 encapsulates the essence of home-style Chinese cooking, making it an indispensable spot for those seeking an authentic dining experience. Whether you are celebrating a family gathering or just enjoying a casual evening out, this restaurant promises dishes that not only satisfy your hunger but also warm your soul.

“ Over the weekend, my family and I went to Old Klang road to have our dinner at Restaurant Meng Kee. The restaurant was recommended by my dad and he has very good comment on the food there. The restaurant is located by the roadside, opposite Scott Garden. We were there early, hence we were still able to get a seat. Initially, we wanted to German Pork Knuckle; but we were told an advance order was require for the dish. So, we had the Stewed Pork Trotters instead, and add in pork intestines, hog maw (pig stomach) and egg. The gravy was slightly starchy and flavourful - it tasted slightly like Bah Kut Teh. The meat was stewed to tender and absorbed all the goodness of the gravy. The the Pipa Duck was drizzled with plum sauce with sesame. The skin was satisfyingly crispy and the meat was tender, but we thought it was a little bit too fat. It would be a perfect dish if the duck was leaner. On the other hand, the Steamed Fish Head with GInger was perfect. The fish was fresh and steamed to perfection. The Romain Lettuce with Fermented Beancurd was alright but I would like to taste more of the fermeted beancurd and slightly more heat. The total bill came to about RM115 - 2 rice, 4 dishes and drinks. It was reasonably cheap, and the quality of the food was good. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner a lot and I could see why this place is so crowded everyday;. ”
